Have you ever re-watched a childhood movie or heard an old song and felt like you were transported back to a simpler, sweeter version of yourself? That’s the magic of nostalgia—and today’s April Challenge is your permission slip to indulge in it, unapologetically.
Day 17 Challenge: Indulge in a nostalgic joy. Watch a childhood movie, play an old favorite song, or read a book you loved growing up.
For me, this meant cozying up and re-watching Dirty Dancing—a movie I was obsessed with at age 11. I remember imagining myself dancing alongside Patrick Swayze, hitting every move, and of course… nailing that final lift. Time of My Life still gives me chills.
Or flipping through my Babysitters Club collection—those books weren’t just stories, they were portals to a world where friendships were fierce, creativity was celebrated, and each chapter brought something new to explore. I wanted to be Claudia with her cool outfits and even cooler confidence.
These simple joys weren’t just entertainment—they were my escape. And now, as an adult, revisiting them feels like hugging a younger version of myself. It’s healing. It’s grounding. And honestly? It’s fun.
Why Nostalgia Matters
Nostalgia is more than a feel-good distraction. Psychologists say it can:
- Boost your mood
- Reduce stress
- Strengthen your sense of identity
- Increase connection to your past (and your inner child)
In short? Nostalgia is medicine—and your inner child is ready for a little dose of joy today.
💛 Affirmation of the Day:
“I am allowed to find joy in what once made me feel most alive. My inner child still dances, still dreams, and still deserves to be heard.”
🖊️ Journal Prompt:
“What childhood memory or activity brings me the most joy? How can I bring a small piece of that magic into my life today?”
Maybe it’s dancing barefoot to a throwback playlist. Maybe it’s journaling in glitter gel pen. Or maybe, it’s simply giving yourself five minutes to play, imagine, or rest—without pressure.
What will you choose to revisit today? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to know what joy looked like for you at age 8, 11, or 16. And if you need me, I’ll be practicing my dance moves in the living room. 💃
